Productive Weekend

Wow... what a whirlwind weekend. I got paid on Friday, so tha was great to get some cash in my pocket for the first time in a while. I made a decision to drive over to San Diego for Friday night and return Saturday afternoon to see a friend of mine that, I thought, was in desperate need of some good times (and I was tired of talking to the guy through my cell phone). I despite my weekend off from work, I decided to come back from SD the next day to catch some family friends that had visited from SD and were having dinner with us that night. It worked out well. Despite the fact that I spent just as much time in the car traveling as I did waking hours with friends in San Diego, it was well worth it. I sure hope I get my labor day weekend request-off approved. That would be great, and something to look forward to. After this, I'm not sure I'll make any more trips to San Diego simply because I won't get two days off in a row again. So this would be a nice exclamation to the end of my travels to San Diego.

A funny thing happened today while I was in a Hi-Health Store today--a store dedicated to vitamin supplements and other chemical concoctions people buy for health purposes. As I looked at all of these bottles on the walls that could easily be substituted by eating the correct number of Fruits and Vegies a day, I realized something; businesses like this thrive on the sheer fact that americans don't like vegetables, and obviously don't enjoy following the food pyramid, so they pop a pill rather than a vegetable and continue eating at McRestaurant anytime they can afford to. These establishments are a symptom of America's cultural "have your cake and eat it to" syndrome.

With that, I came home smiled at my bank account that grew this weekend, and took a nap--falling asleep to current unanswered questions like, "what career do I want to spend my life doing?" and "When I go back to school, what do I want to get the degree in?" Whatever it is, I'm just going to have to sit-tight and keep my ears, eyes, and mind open.

Cheers.
