Summary: Pi can't get Ryo out of his head, and Ryo had troubles of his own. Jin is a crazy friend and Ueda comes into the scene??
Yamapi felt a pair of arms tightly embracing him from behind as he slowly awoke to the morning light shining through the curtains. For a moment he was petrified to move, Ryo was holding him, as he had dreamed of for the past months, and his hold was so constricting and powerful, as if he didn’t want to let him go.
Yamapi smiled to himself as he felt Ryo mumbling and breathing against his shoulder blade. He wished he could stay in this position forever, wondering if Ryo had consciously held him or did so whilst he was turning in his sleep. Whatever it was that lead to this, he enjoyed it a lot. A flower bloomed in his heart as he pictured the possibilities up front, maybe, just maybe, Pi thought, Ryo feels the same for me too?
“Do you like me?” Yamapi heard a mumble from behind him.
A voice indiscernible and almost like a puff of air near his ear. He blushed at the question and at Ryo’s frankness, was this the opportunity he was waiting for? Yamapi felt as if he were on a roller coaster and his heart was beating like bumper cars.
“hmmm?” The voice came again.
“Yes I like you.” Yamapi whispered back. “I really like you…”
Yamapi felt his face burning in embarrassment, he tried to wriggle out of his position to turn to look at Ryo, he wanted to see how Ryo’s expression was like.
“Wait!” The pair of arms embracing Yamapi locked tighter and Yamapi started to get a bit perplexed.
“Say you like Ryo, say it.” The voice ushered.
Yamapi smiled, he didn’t know Ryo was such a tease and childishly demanding. “Alright, I LIKE Ryo-chan.” “ok? Can I turn around and kiss you now?”
The arms loosened and Yamapi swiftly turned to face his lover.
Horrified only to find Jin’s face grinning from ear to ear centimeters in front of him.
“WHAT!!?” Yamapi jumped up, face pale as a sheet.
“YAHOOOOOO!!!” Jin wailed with his hands flinging in the air. “Yamapi and Ryo, sitting in a tree….K-I-S-S-I-N-”Jin began to sing.
“Stop it!” “What are you doing here?”
“Relax, Relax, it’s just me… Ryo’s gone to work already… he didn’t hear a word, or do you prefer he did?” Jin giggled.
Yamapi furrowed his brows and glared at his best friend. Ok, so he was really obvious maybe, but this was too humiliating. “I knew it was you all along, I was just playing along with you.” Yamapi replied, with an air of confidence he wished that sounded convincing.
“Ya right!” Jin crossed his arms and pouted. Yamapi knew at that instant bakanishi had fallen into his trap.
“Of course Baka!” Yamapi smacked Jin’s head and laughed, “I woke up when Ryo woke up, but then I went back to bed, how would I not know!” “HAHAHA” Pi continued on his unconvincing laugh.
Jin pouted “I’ll count the condoms!” He announced as he animatedly jumped off his bed, heading to his bed side drawer, earning another smack from Yamapi.
“WE DID NOT DO IT!!!!” Yamapi almost yelled, “I’m not like you, ok? I don’t just jump people.”
Jin giggled and almost rolled on the floor laughing. He was now certain that his best friend had a crush on his other best friend, and better still, he hoped it was mutual.
Back at the studio, Ryo smiled to himself as he recalled Pi’s beautiful face lightened by the soft morning sunlight. He had never slept so well in years. He wondered if the special feeling, some of apprehension, some excitement and lots of security every time he met Pi, was due to the fact that he liked Pi too much. As in, more than just a friend. But was this allowed?
Ryo tried to ban himself from thinking too much either.
I’m a man! I mustn’t fall in love with a man! Ryo repeated to himself like a mantra.
Work in the studio was hectic as always, especially when Ishikawa was always against him and trying to put more work in his hands than he could handle. Apparently Ishikawa was also talking bad about Ryo to Higashiyama Sensei. Something about him mingling with celebrities and trying to be one himself.
Well truth was Ryo was indeed hanging out with lots of celebrities, and also staying at one’s. So Ryo didn’t try to deny any gossips that were hanging around him at his workplace. Higashiyama sensei didn’t seem to mind either, instead, he took better notice over Ryo since Ishikawa was mentioning him too much, and was giving Ryo much more opportunities with the camera, which angered Ishikawa even more.
Ryo cherished the opportunities a lot, even though it meant more and more work, heavy duty during working hours and developing photos and arrangements for Higashiyama sensei in his private time.
It was obvious that Ishikawa san only got more and more crossed with Ryo, making him do stuff when others were already assigned with that duty, and playing pranks on Ryo when nobody was looking.
Pouring ink in Ryo’s coffee was one, and Ryo was literally vomiting in the toilet while Ishikawa was babbling about how Ryo was trying to spread germs to other staff.
Ryo groaned as he massaged his epigastrium. Aside from his limited hours of sleep with his jobs and added work from Higashiyama, his stomach was burning like a flame recently and he didn’t feel like eating either, looking at himself in the mirror he was aghast at how dark and deep his eyes had become, as if they had hollowed back into his skull from the lack of fat on his face to support them.
He almost bumped into someone on his way out of the bathroom, and Ryo immediately bowed down to apologize. He felt two hands on his side lifting him back up to the upright position. “Ryo-chan! I was looking for you!” Ryo saw Ueda smiling sheepishly at him.
“Eh?” Ryo was surprised at the sudden appearance of Ueda.
“Can we go out for lunch, I know it’s lunch time for you right?” Ueda continued, without catching the doubt in Ryo’s expression. He didn’t wait for Ryo’s reply and was already lightly pushing at his waist for Ryo to follow him.
They passed by Ishikawa on the way out, and immediately Ryo felt the burning stare from Ishikawa, if Ryo wasn’t mistaken, he would have believed it was one out of jealousy. To his surprise, Ishikawa came over with a smile so friendly and fake Ryo almost barfed again.
“Ueda sama, what brings you here?” Ishikawa bowed.
“I’m going out to lunch with Ryo-chan.” Ueda replied rather stoically. Ryo caught Ishikawa staring angrily after them as they went out the studio.
Ryo rolled his eyes as he sat across Ueda in a high end Italian restaurant. There goes my week’s salary Ryo groaned to himself. He was brought to attention when Ueda suddenly placed his palm over Ryo’s hand. Ryo widened his eyes and immediately retreated his hand. Ueda looked somewhat defeated, but soon smiled again, “You’re so shy Ryo-chan, order whatever you like” Ueda continued, “My treat.”
The truth was, Ryo didn’t feel like eating at all, and he wondered why Ueda was always popping out here and there. Obviously Ueda was quite friendly and maybe just trying to make Ryo feel more at home seeing that he didn’t have much friends, but the touchy hands were kind of annoying.
“It’s alright, I’m actually not too hungry.” Ryo replied politely.
“What brings you here Ueda-kun?”
“Please call me Tatsuya.” Ueda changed his tone suddenly and was looking earnestly at Ryo. “I know you’re suffering, and Jin is a bastard if you ask me. I’m sure you don’t know him as much as I do…”
Ryo was quite confused at what Ueda was getting at. He tried to change the subject by picking up the menu, but Ueda continued on disregarding his cue.
“Jin changes partners every week, I know it’s rare that he lets you move in with in and then announces you as his partner whereas previously he seldom does that, but believe me, he’s just looking for some fun, he’s not serious with you.” Ueda looks straight into Ryo’s orbs and tries to capture Ryo’s hands in his own again, but Ryo withdraws just in time, making Ueda quite annoyed.
Ryo doesn’t reply and just rolls his eyes trying to think of a way to escape, but Ueda was talking non-stop and it seemed impolite to just get up and go.
“Look,” Ueda continues, “I know it’s hard to take it right now, but if you won’t let go, I’m sure something bad is going to happen, and it’s you who’s gonna suffer, Jin could forget you in a matter of seconds.”
Ryo wonders whether Jin will clarify their relationship with his friends. Was Ueda just trying to help in get out of a bad lover’s hands or plotting something else?
“Say, Ueda kun, ahh, I mean Tatsuya-kun. I know you care about Jin, I think I know him quite well too, and he’s nothing like how you say about him. Thanks anyways…I have to get back to work.” Ryo politely answers, and gets up to leave.
He doesn’t see how Ueda’s fists are clenching tightly and he teeth biting against his jaws. I’m gonna get you, one way or another. Ueda swears under his breath.
When Ryo gets back to the studio, he’s surprised to see Ishikawa waving at him and coming over with a smile spreading across his face like a clown’s painted mouth, fixed on the face.
“Why Nishikido-san is back, Yamashita-sama has been waiting for you.”
Yamapi walks over to Ryo and thanks Ishikawa with a slight bow.
“Ryo-chan! How are you?” Yamapi smiles. He missed Ryo a lot the past few days, and the fact that Ryo didn’t have a cell phone made it impossible for him to contact Ryo as much as he would like. He has been contemplating still, how he should tackle his crush on Ryo. A wrong maneuver could jeopardize their whole friendship and that was more than Pi thought he could bear.
“I was around the area and just wanted to see if you could go out for lunch.” Yamapi smiled hopefully at Ryo.
“Ah… it’s past my lunchtime already though…” Ryo replied timidly. He couldn’t describe the elation he was feeling inside at the sight of Pi. He missed him somehow more than he should have missed a mere friend.
“Let’s…” Ryo and Yamapi voiced together.
“Let’s meet when you get off tonight then.” Yamapi continues instantly, he didn’t want to give Ryo a chance to reject him.
Ryo notices Yamapi’s aggressiveness and smiled inwardly. He wasn’t going to repudiate Pi’s offer either, not when he was longing for his company.
“I have work till eleven, could we meet after that?” Ryo smiles back brightly.
Pi almost gets blinded by the smile as his heart races.
Ueda looks at all this behind the studio doors, during lunch he felt Ryo’s hesitancy towards him, disgruntled at the coldness Ryo was showing him, Ueda clenched his fists. It’s because of Yamashita. First Jin, now Yamashita. Everyone is standing in the way between us. Ueda murmured under his breath.
Ishikawa comes in through the doors and sees Ueda scowling at the two.
“May I help you Ueda-sama?” Ishikawa asks, not so innocently. Ueda-san didn’t look like he was plotting anything charitable, and anything against Ryo sounded like music to his ears.
Ueda turns to Ishikawa and furrows his brows, says nothing and leaves.
