“Shit, this guy is totally blocking my way.”

Yamashita Tomohisa, a reknowned singer and actor in Japan, was currently cursing under his breath as he was badly in need to answer nature’s call, but the person sitting next to him on the plane back from New York was only sliding lower and lower on his seat, totally unconscious in his sleep with head falling to one side, almost leaning on Yamapi’s arm to be exact.

It was just his luck that the plane was so packed to the extent he ended up in the economic class seats. The airline staff in the states, in the end, didn’t quite know how famous Yamashita was. Maybe though, he should have thanked the gods above that he wasn’t placed beside a crazy fangirl, or any women actually, those probably wouldn’t even let him rest during the umpteenth hours of the ride. At least this guy here, was in coma ever since the plane started, giving him plenty of peace and quiet. Yamapi turned towards the boy who was threatening to fall on his arm. If he wasn’t planning on a maneuver to cross over this guy to the aisle, he probably wouldn’t consider taking off his shades and taking a good look at this guy who totally ignored his multi-lingual attempts of “Excuse me sir”. Seriously, he even tried the limited Chinese he learnt on his Taiwan concert tour. Apparently, it wasn’t about nationality, this guy was plainly either dead or deaf.

“Sir…” Yamapi tried again, pulling off his shades with one hand, and his other arm withdrawing so his body turned sideways against the window, fortunately or unfortunately, the guy wasn’t genuinely on his arm, or not his head would have lost balance and banged against the armrests and he would wake up and then free the prisoner hopefully.

Yamapi then looked down at the boy’s face, to say Yamapi was astonished was an understatement, though being in the limelight all these years, his amazement didn’t show, he was immediately mesmerized by the beauty of the handsome boy, who’s head eventually did land on the armrest, but the hardness of it didn’t seem to have any effect on him. The boy had flawless tanned skin, handsome features, tall nose and deep orbs, pale and lush lips. His chest was rising and falling slowly in rhythm, but the boy looked like he was having a bad dream, eyes scrunching once in a while, and corners of eyes slightly wet from tears having fallen or threatening to fall. The scene was both melancholic and peaceful. The boy was in loose jeans and a hoodie, with the blanket hanging loosely from his upper chest. Yamapi continued starring and didn’t even notice the stewardess coming to their seats.

“Please put your seat up sir, we’re landing in a few minutes.” The pretty blonde lady almost knelt down and helped the boy resume an upright seat. The boy finally sat up and with dazed eyes, darted around. “Eh? What’s going on?”

“We’re landing sir, let me help you.”
The boy smiled weakly, “Ah, thanks, sorry for the trouble, didn’t hear the broadcast.”

Yamapi watched in awe. First of all, he was quite thankful that the lady proved this guy to be alive. More so was this boy’s fluent English, which was always a really cool thing in Japan, and suddenly, Yamapi was reminded of his “need” and that he definitely couldn’t wait till the plane landed. He practically stood up and raised his hand frantically, “I need to use the washroom!”

Both the stewardness and the boy looked up, quite surprised by this weird Japanese guy’s actions. The lady stood up and smiled. “Sorry sir, we’re almost landing, please remain in your seat for the time being.”

The flight attendant left and Yamapi unwillingly sat down embarrassed and uncomfortable. The boy turned towards him.

“You Japanese?” the boy said in perfect English.
Yamapi turned to the boy and nodded. “You?”
The boy curved his lips into a somewhat sly smile. “You didn’t have to raise your hand you know, it’s not school.” He said, with some tease. Apparently, this guy was Japanese.

Yamapi’s previous admiration for this boy had somehow turned into anger that split second. As if he would have done that if he could have just crossed over his corpse and reach the washroom. Yamapi frowned, “we Japanese just tend to be polite in every possible way, thank you.”

The boy laughed again, louder this time. “Right, I should learn more about that from now on I guess, my parents always said I was helpless with manners.” He reached out his hand for Yamapi to shake. "Nishikido Ryo desu, dozo yoroshiku ne.”
'Yamapi took the hand and gave it a firm shake. “Yamashita Tomohisa desu, yoroshiku.”

Ryo smiled again, he pulled on the shake so Yamapi would look up. “Hey, you’re not gonna pee on the seat are you? I hope not.” He laughs again, plain mockery.
Yamapi tries to retort but before he does, Ryo sits back and withdraws his legs close to the seat. “Just sneak out, the flight attendants won’t pull you out once you reach.” Yamapi looks at the man incredulously, “Hurry!” Ryo whispers, and Yamapi does as he’s told.

When Yamapi comes back Ryo looks a bit sad. “What happened?” Yamapi can’t help but becomes a bit more curious about his handsome mischievous new friend.

“The flight attendant fined me because I persuaded someone out of their seats.”
“No! Is that even possible?” Yamapi didn’t quite understand the rules on American airlines.
Ryo turns to Yamapi and laughs again. “You’re pretty easy to manipulate aren’t you?”
He continues laughing for another short while till both of them fall silent as the plane starts landing.

Yamapi gives up, he’s just a kid in the end. Besides, the fact that he speaks perfect English was probably something he should admire this man for.

“So, are you travelling or going back home?” Ryo asks. Americans were very amiable people in the end, Yamapi guesses.
Yamapi contemplates to pretend not hearing, but answers anyways. “I’m coming back from work, you?”
“I came for family business…” Ryo pauses, and his voice chokes a little. “I don’t know how long I’d stay actually…”

Yamapi doesn’t understand why he’s a bit disappointed to hear this, so this boy might not stay long enough for his liking, what was he thinking, it wasn’t like they were going to meet after they both left the plane anyways.

They grow silent again, and it was a bit hard to bear on Yamapi’s end now. The boy just continued to interest him more with every passing minute. But they have landed on Tokyo, Japan now, and Yamapi’s reminded of the fact that he’s a superstar and shouldn’t be cracking conversations with strangers. They both quietly get their stuff and squirm in line to leave the cabin.

The crowd from behind pushes and Yamapi’s body is pushed against the back of his new acquaintance. Ryo doesn’t budge but Yamapi feels his face warming up in that fraction of a second. It’s a weird feeling and it’s not like he hasn’t had closer body contact, with their height, Yamapi’s nose run into the strands of Ryo’s jet black hair and the floral scents lands on his sense buds. It’s a perfume he falls for immediately. Ryo suddenly turns while Yamapi enjoys the moment.

“Say, Yamashita, can you lend me a few bucks?”

Yamapi is surprised and embarrassed at the same time, but remains modest and replies rather mockingly for this boy’s liking. “A few bucks won’t do anything here for your information.” He reaches for his wallet anyways and pulls out an a thousand yen note.

Ryo nods his head and smiles bashfully. Thanks is all he says though, and it’s the last words they exchange before they part. Yamapi considers asking Ryo for his number, he also thinks about giving him his and then tells him it’s for when he returns the money, but it the end none of this happens and Yamapi sits in his manager’s car on the way back to his home regretting.
