IT IS A VERY BAD IDEA TO END YOUR MOVIE WITH A DANCE PARTY.

END

Yes, that's right. Takeshi Kitano's new film featuring the classic character Zatoichi, who is a blind swordsman who goes around killing bad guys, ended with all the characters getting together in one area and having a gigantic dance party. This is not some in-the-context-of-the-movie dance party, like in Monsoon Wedding or even A Knight's Tale. This was a "the film is over, everyone leave character and do a gigantic riverdance in modern shoes," almost reminiscent of the Radioactive Man movie episode of the simpsons. It was absolutely sick.

The film was reall interesting until the end, though, mostly because of the way the action was done. Like with lightsabers, the swords were computer animated during the fight scenes, allowing the director a lot of leeway in terms of slicing people through the middle and hacking off limbs without having a gigantic stunt and effects budget or having to be super-creative with the camera shots. In that respect, it was totally badass and really well done, and I highly recommend it to anyone who's ever planning on making a movie with sword fighting. Hell, it could have taught the makers of that piece of shit daredevil movie volumes about how to make a character badass. But, it really failed as the end approached.

An update tomorrow on my future living situation. The players are changed. The hippies are crazier, the cats are more ubiquitous, and competition is that much tougher. Stay tuned.
