I don't seem to be doing so well at Writing in the evenings any more. We used to put Nolan down, then I would do dishes, write an LJ post, and then Kirby and I would watch TV. Lately, I've been using the TV to write LJ posts, Nolan's going to sleep later and later and Kirby's not in her room on her computer, she's waiting for me in front of the TV. All those things combined must make it just that inconvenient to write a post.

So, I'm writing at the crack of dawn instead. Alright, it's probably not the crack of dawn, but how would I know? I can't see the sun through the clouds. It certainly seems like it just went from black to gray out there: Portland dawn. I'm thinking it's going to be hard to get up for work before Portland dawn even though Nolan starts his wake-up routine sometime around 6am. Gotta figure out how to convince that kid to sleep later, he's so exhausted by late morning that he's begging for an early nap. Even keeping him up an extra hour in the evening doesn't seem to help, he's still sounding the alarm before dawn.

I'm a little frustrated with how this three weeks has gone. We've done alright, the flu wasn't an awesome addition, but we still don't really have any sort of managable routine established for the day, and chores seem to be piling up rather than dwindling with 2 adults at home. I should probably be doing as much as I can right now instead of writing LJ because I've apparently got some motivation right now.

In addition to chores, there's been minimal progress on the basement. I put up a little insulation, and I levelled out a wall for sheetrock, but nothing else has really been accomplished. We took a weekend off after Aurora was born, then my dad blew out his knee and his sledge hammer has somehow become broken. I think I'm just going to have to attempt opening the concrete up for plumbing on my own. It's not like it should be a difficult job, I just like to have support when I destroy things.

Christmas party at my bosses' house tonight. On one hand I'm really excited by the idea, on the other, I kind of want to enjoy this record breaking rain they say we're going to have and work on things around here. It's probably my northwest roots, but a good rain and housework always makes me feel nostalgic.
