Nolan's become pretty difficult lately. He likes to create his own agenda, and if ours doesn't conform to his, we get a screaming fit. If he wants to play with playdoh, nothing else is going to satisfy him. If he wants the spot the dog has on the couch, he'll throw a screaming fit about how he doesn't want to sit anywhere else.

We can occasionally be to blame. Earlier today we bought a gingerbread house, but on the way home from the store we decided we would rather save it and got to the PIR lights. I've been reading Nurture Shock, and that exact scenario is covered in the chapter about lying. To a child, the fact that you said we were doing one thing and then changed it is a lie. It's something we need to work more carefully to avoid. Plan these things out completely before letting the toddler in on the plans.

We probably need to plan things out more completely anyway, we don't seem to be so great at making plans and then keeping them. There are at least a dozen chores around here that keep getting pushed off until tomorrow.

So we went to PIR tonight. It was pretty impressive, I was particularly impressed by the 12 days of Christmas display and the elves playing sports were pretty cool as well.
