Dog Walking
I went to my orientation at the Animal Shelter so I could start walking dogs. I thought this would be a great way to interact with animals (since I can't have my own at the moment) and to get some exercise. Orientation was fine. Then I went and got the first dog. He was big, but friendly and was sitting so nice wagging his tail. I thought, this is the dog. I didn't want a dog that was jumping everywhere the first time I took a dog out. Well, I got him out of the building and into the outside dog run. Well, due to snow pack, I didn't notice right away that the latch didn't really latch well. So, he's running around the run..stops..looks at me..and then bolts for the gate..broke through the gate and started running. He didn't get far..maybe 30 feet. But still, I was horrified. The first dog I took out and he gets away from me. After he was caught he was shaking and had this croupy cough thing going. So, he was put back in kennel. I walked two more dogs..much easier to handle..but I walked by the first dog's kennel later..he's sitting up, wagging his tail at me. Geesh..naughty dog.
