Summary: Heero goes over to see Marie and ask for her help.

With Marie's permission, Heero headed over to her hut. He still felt nervous around her at times, wondering if she was still afraid of him. It was something that kept nagging at the back of his head. Then again, he knew he sometimes had a problem with letting things go. He pushed the thought away and knocked on her door.

Marie got up and out of her room when she heard the knock on the door, answering it quickly to see Heero there. She still felt a little nervous around him, and moved back so he could come in. "Hello...what's going on?"

He carefully stepped in, trying not to show just how jumpy he was. There was a lot going on his head right now... between Relena and then this new thing with Hilde gone and Duo not coming out of his hut. Coming over here really wasn't making things easier for him to deal with in his head. "It's... I'm worried about Duo," he said quietly, not coming much further in than he had to, giving her enough room to close the door.

Marie closed the door, then sat down on the couch. She heard some things about what happened between Hilde and Duo, and she really didn't need to know any more about that. "You're worried about more than just Duo."

"Hn." The former pilot looked down. "Yeah."

"Is it because Miss Relena is gone?"

"There's nothing I can do about that," he said somewhat flatly, as if he was trying to convince himself as much as her. "But Hilde's not gone from the island. Just the village. Duo hasn't gone after her, and that bothers me."

Marie sighed, she knew Relena's disappearance was going to do something to Heero whether he admitted it or not. "Duo needs his mind off things. So do you."

She was right and Heero knew it too damn well. He frowned. "I... I don't know how," he finally admitted.

"I don't either." Marie admitted, "But it's obvious to everyone who knows you that something's wrong."

"I don't mean to make anyone worried."

"But you need to do something. And you're not the only one who needs a distraction." Marie shook her head, "There are others who also need distractions."

He sighed. "I was never good at just doing nothing..."

"I've noticed that Mr. Naoe is having troubles in class sometimes. Maybe the three of you should just sit down and play a video game for a while." Marie suggested, she saw Nagi sparking on occasion during the French class and knew that only happened when something was really wrong.

Heero almost smiled. "That's probably something they'd want to do..." Himself, he wasn't so sure about.

"At least it would distract them for a while."

He nodded. "Have you tried talking to Duo?" he asked. As far as he knew, the only person Duo had been seeing was Quatre.

Marie shook her head.

"Hn." Still standing near the door, Heero slipped his hands into his pockets. "I don't know how Quatre's been doing with him... if he's been making any progress."

"I don't either."

"He talks to you... maybe... you could try to get him out...

Marie shook her head a little, "I really don't know."

Heero retreated the idea then with a small nod. "It's okay... you don't have to."

"Well, it's just that it's stuff I really can't help him with." Marie looked down, "You know him better anyways."

"That doesn't mean I can do anything," Heero said. "I don't know how to handle these things."

"I don't either."

"Sorry," he said quietly then. "I shouldn't have worried you." He turned, moving to leave.

Marie shook her head, "It's ok."

He paused, nodding a bit. "I didn't know who else to go to," he said quietly. "I know you've gotten him to cheer up in the past. I thought..." He shook his head.

"I just don't know how to deal with this." Marie admitted, "But it's really not much of my business anyways."

"I suppose it's not really anyone's business but Duo's and anyone he wants to tell," Heero said, leaning against the door. "But... It's not right for him to be like that.

Marie shook her head, "It isn't. But you know he's not going to talk to me about it."

"He has before."

"But I don't know if he will about what happened with Hilde. I'm just trying to be a kid for once..."

“I know... I'm sorry." Heero looked down.

Marie shook her head, "I just don't think he'll really tell me."

Heero just nodded slightly, feeling disappointed like he'd failed again. Somehow, he didn't think just a distraction was going to help this, but he supposed that's all they could do. He straightened from the door and turned, opening it. "Thanks," he said quietly.

Marie nodded a little, "You're welcome."

He nodded slightly in return and then left, closing the door behind him.
