weird family issues

Just came back from my aunts' 50th birthday party... (no, I didn't misspell that. Aunts, plural. They're twins, my father's younger sisters). It was fun, I guess, as much as having dinner with lots of relatives you almost never see can be. But hey, they gave me money for my trip to London, so that's a plus!

It was weird, though, because it was only the second time it wasn't just my dad, my brother and me, but my... step-mother, for lack of a better word (she isn't actually married to my dad), step-sister and half-sister came along. Back-story: my half-sister is actually 11 years old, but she was... an accident, shall we say. My dad broke up with her mother, and initially wanted nothing to do with them, and I didn't even know I had a little sister until she was 4 (had a big fight with my dad about that). I didn't grow up with my little sister, we only saw each other occasionally until 4 years ago, when I insisted I wanted to get to know her. Well, my dad and her mother have had an on-again, off-again kind of relationship for the past few years, which they "rekindled" and stabilized about a year ago, and in the end they moved in together. I'm fine with it now. I've come to the conclusion that it's their life and none of my business, but it's still strange going all together to these family meetings that used to be a thing we did with just my dad. Now he's got this other family my brother and I don't really feel we belong to, and we're absolutely not used to it. But it was okay, I guess.

Um, that was probably TMI, and likely confusing as hell. Maybe I should draw a family tree. *ponders*
Well, it's late, and I ate like a pig, and I might not be entirely coherent. I'll call it a night.

Later! ♥
