My sleep is fuuuuuucked and it's driving me slightly nuts. I wake every half an hour, just enough to disrupt my deep or REM sleep. I reckon it's POTS, but can I get my GP to consider a diagnosis? Nope, just prescribe more sleeping tablets!
Anyway. What's been happening recently?
G took his mum's partner out for a round of golf, so MIL and I went out for lunch and some shopping. It was a nice day, but I was really angry every time we went in a shop and we were the only two with masks on. Maybe it's just cos that town is full of idiots, but it really pissed me off.
Had a day out with friends - at a petting zoo of all places. Was nice to see people, but please, god, can we have a childfree meetup somewhere that doesn't involve chickens next time? That said, it was a fun day, my friends' kids are pretty cool as children go, and it was nice to get out in the sunshine and give I her much-belated birthday presents.
Went into the office for a day, was really good to catch up with everyone, and then we had a team meal out in the evening. Broke the diet a bit, but week 5 weigh in was yesterday and I've still managed to lose a whole 14lbs, whoo! Just two more stone to go (*weeps*).
Work is both stressful and not that busy, at the same time. I don't know how that works. There's lots on, but none of it's that urgent, and I am Queen of the Procrastinators. They've just announced we're still in the 'encourage to work from home' phase - they were thinking about bringing us back on site soon, but cases keep going up because of aforementioned non-mask-wearing idiots, so the silver lining is that we get to stay home longer. Huzzah. My manager has put in for extra headcount on her team for a non-admin project support role, which she really wants me for. Moving away from admin to something a bit meatier would definitely do wonders for my productivity, so fingers crossed when the budget comes through it's been approved.
G fixed the leaky window in the kitchen, just in time for even more rain. Now we just have to paint over where the leak was. We've bought some fruit trees for the garden as well. Naturally, one of them has already arrived, but we can't plant it til the other four turn up. Poor Madelaine the fig tree is stuck in her pot for a few weeks. We are incapable of going into B&Q without picking up more plants either, so we have another fern and a teeny orange tree that we need to find homes for too.
Went for a lovely walk round Moyns Park Stud on Saturday, and yesterday we went to Tattersalls and viewed some potential new mares. We also met up with some friends we've barely seen due to covid - had lunch, talked horses, then went for a walk in the fields round Banstead Manor Stud. Basically, ALL THE HORSES.
This is Roseman, who will soon be starting his stallion career. We saw him last week before he travels down to Devon to the stud.
It has been chilly lately - the temperature has definitely dropped, but I'm determined not to put the heating on before this weekend at the earliest, and even then that's only because we have a friend staying. The cats are unimpressed with this decision, and have been even more needy than normal. It's cute. Chi keeps climbing into G's dressing gown in the mornings and sitting on his chest like she used to do as a kitten. He protests and claims allergies, but never stops her. It's adorable.
