Such a strange, strange man

I had to share this - it's a little weird, as is pretty much everything that Hawksley does, but it's kind of awesome, too, and really feels autumn-y. It was a note in a mailing list email about his upcoming tour; see his website for details (all Canadian dates).

september now. didn't see it coming. this was the summer of birds and bears. and a time for summoning too. thinking a lot about goodness. about trying to rest in the sometimes elusive warmth of positivity and light. about being a witness to blessings. indeed we are all connected. i rode my bike. ran through the porcupine lane. swam and watched the goslings leave their mother. indeed there is darkness but we are called to seek and to celebrate the bits of light that fight to make their way to eyes that choose to see. i turn off the news and put on some music. The truth's there. away from the noise.

i went to the local fair today. i saw the ribbons on the quilts, pies, wood work, squash and knitting. i saw the riders and their horses. the lovely burning of passionate, industrious folk. my neighbours. this speaks loud and clear. play your own game. of course there's always going to be wind to blow down trees, but why not choose to nurture goodness and love? to see the tomatoes turn from green to red on the vine. to feel the inner prayer. our proud little vibrations. each cell buzzing with honesty and life. there's the truth. and so now the night comes sooner. and sooner again the day after tomorrow, till after the snow and cold again. but we'll have kept our seeds warm. close to the fire. never letting go of what our guts know to be true. happy autumn and harvest. happy peas and corn.

(Lack of capitalisation all Hawksley's; space between paragraphs added by me as I can't remember the html for hanging paras.)
