I was interviewed by
looking_spiffy, so here are my answers to the five questions. Yes, I'm answering in reverse order, because I kinda dorked out on question # 1 after my poor brain unstuck. :D Hopefully the absolute ridiculously in-depth answers make up for not getting it done before you went away! *smooches*
5. Spike or Angel? XD
Spike is hot, and I loved his evolution as a character, but I have to say, I'm still an Angel girl at heart. The original storyline totally captured my heart, and I cry like a five-year-old at Becoming and I Will Remember You every. damn. time.
Ultimately though? I would ditch them both in a heartbeat for Faith. :D Followed closely by any incarnation of non-evil Willow.
4. Phone sex: sexy or not?
Nnnnngh. I am a voice whore. I actually dated someone in high school that I didn't find all that visually attractive to begin with, because listening to him made my insides dance. Sound hits me earlier and harder than anything besides touch, and sometimes can parallel it for impact. So yes, very fucking sexy indeed.
On a tangent, I generally get one of two reactions to my own voice: that I should be doing phone sex or that the other person feels like they should be asking if my mommy or daddy is home. Fortunately, I have yet to get both reactions from the same person, cuz that would be just a little disturbing! What makes it even funnier is that I'm a dead ringer for my mom on the phone, who's gotten the same disparate commentary. *grins*
3. Who were the first characters or people you can remember wanting to slash, or at least seeing the potential for naughtyness between them?
I became aware of slash fiction in the pop culture/fandom sense via an article on Paul Gross when he was in the TV show Due South. I could see the appeal of the idea, but the urge to slash people myself didn't come until the Vegas episode of Roswell, in March 2001. There's a scene at the end between Max and Michael, who grew up believing they were brothers but had recently discovered they weren't related, and who had had a massive fight the night before. They're standing at a coffee cart in the courtyard of a lavish hotel having a heart-to-heart and there's just this energy between them. And then they walk off and turn the conversation to the body count in Braveheart, and this girl goes past them and they turn in unison to check out her ass. Like the writers KNEW that the awkward apologeticness and divulgence of feelings was going to come off as slashy so they threw in some stereotypical "Look at us, all macho male!" shit. :D I went looking in the fandom after that and found exactly one person writing Ros-slash. It was a Max/Liz/Michael threesome, which was also the pairing in the plot bunny nagging at me, and it was done beautifully. That inspired me to jump in with both feet. Well…maybe one foot and a big toe. You wouldn't *believe* how uncomfortable I was talking about anybody's ass in the beginning! *laughs*
The second part answers a slightly different question really, in that I became aware of gay fiction when I was fifteen. Another friend gave my best friend a fantasy novel with a gay hero as a gag, Magic's Pawn, and the joke was on him because I've worn out three sets of that trilogy and still count Mercedes Lackey as one of my favourite authors. And I have an enduring love affair with Vanyel Ashkevron, the too-pretty sixteen-year-old boy who only wanted to play music and didn't even know that homosexuality existed at the beginning of his story, but ended up as a mage with a male lifepartner instead. Given that, it's surprising really that it took me that long to get into slash. I suspect it has more to do with the fact that I was once adamantly anti-computer. *clutches her stuffed-full hard drive in denial*
2. If there was to be a biographical film made about Green Day, who would you cast as each of them?
This was honestly the hardest question, and mainly because I could NOT think of who could play Mike. Unless it were set in the future, in which case, James Marsters. *grins* Buuuuut biographical film suggests a wee bit younger than oh say NOW, so younger I went.
Interestingly enough, Tré was the easiest: Topher Grace. He has, IMO, that balance between cute, goofy, sexy and insane to pull it off. :D Billie…my first thought, if we were gonna head really younger, was Dan Radcliffe. This is because Goblet of Fire came out when Billie's hair was getting kinda long and at the movie, I had an OMGWTFTHEYLOOKALIKE moment, heh. But Dan's quite a bit younger than Topher, so I went with Jason Behr. And Shiri Appleby as Adrienne. My Roswell friends are now laughing b/c Jason and Shiri played my OTP couple on the show (Max/Liz). *But* he's slender/muscular, pretty, hazel-brown eyes and smallish, she's a petite dark-eyed brunette, and they have amazing chemistry so I'd love to see them work together again. For Mike…fuck. I finally decided on Chad Michael Murray because he has a similar kinda lanky build, lovely blue eyes and pretty good cheekbones. lol
1. You run a three-day music festival (proper European style). Name your three stages, your three headliners and at least three other bands. They can be any bands, living or dead, still around or split, and even supergroups (for instance, putting James Hetfield in MB20 with The Snoo. Or something.).
The headliners were easy: I have three favourite bands. They mark me as kinda schizo but I'm all right with that. After the headliners, though, my head kinda went kablooie so I self-imposed the limits of only current existing bands (no dead people or bizarro supergroups that hurt my brain!) and then I…still went overboard. *laughs* However, every artist listed is one I either have seen - and want to see again! - or would at least consider dropping cash to see play live. (The last time I did the interview meme, I got asked about my perfect five band lineup. I still think about what that might be from time to time and whenever I do, I laugh myself silly at the very real prospect that Rob Thomas would not make it out alive. :D Ahem.) Anyway, the stages' genre labels are meant to be extremely broad. I think I've explained before what a kitchen party is, but basically it's a modernised version of a ceilidh - a house party with friends, food, dancing and live music. Here, it serves as a bit of a catch-all. :-)
