CCS Thesis!

May 05, 2010 00:02

So I'm not sure if everyone who reads this is aware of this or not (I guess maybe I don't talk about it super often) but I'm actually set to graduate from The Center for Cartoon Studies in a couple weeks time! Which is maybe why I haven't been blogging quite as regularly as of late. But nonetheless! I am now emerging from the non-internet-y wilderness because as of yesterday morning, I finished putting together my thesis packet!

So here's the entire contents of the packet laid out, including copies of the two Werewolf! anthologies and two books put together specifically for the thesis.

This is the first of the two "thesis packet exclusive" books, and represents the bulk of what I'm handing in. This book contains the thumbnails for the full first draft (and a bit of the second draft) of "Darcy Cheyne: Werewolf Hunter," the graphic novel thing I've been working on for most of the year. It's sort of an indie romance road trip thing, but also with werewolves. If you've read either of the stories I did for the "Werewolf!" anthologies, those serve as a sort of prelude to this.

Here's the spine of the book. You look at it and go, "hey, this book is spiral bound!" except that it is NOT ACTUALLY SPIRAL BOUND! It's a trick, for the less keen-eyed reader!

And here's a side view, so you can see just how thick this monster actually is. The whole thing totals out to a nice 400 pages. Also, you can't really see it here because of the glare, but in the real life version you can see the individual signatures from the top as well. The book is hand-sewn, with a cover glued on to the spine. It holds together surprisingly well too!

And hey, look, there's all sorts of comics inside!

This is the second of the two books, a collection of all of the miscellaneous comics/illustration stuff I've done over the past year.

This one has comics too!

And a few colour pages as well.

And here's the finished thing, all packed up and ready to go! You can't really tell, but there are actually eight copies of the package in that box. Along with a few pages of original art for use in the thesis exhibition which should be up some time soon. Also, there are my socks!

And that's it! Maybe they'll let me graduate now? And check out what some other future graduates have posted on their blogs too!
