So in the wake of MoCCA and picking up SO MANY new comics to read, I go off and... buy more books? But it's actually really awesome! There's a super huge book sale that happens every year near where I'm staying right now, where these people take over an entire high school and fill two gyms with tons and tons of old and used books for super cheap!
Alright, so maybe this is a bit of a nerdy thing to blog about. But I went this Saturday with my friend
Bryan, and we both got SUCH GOOD BOOKS! I picked up a copy of Franny and Zooey (which I've always wanted to read but never got around to), a cool book of Irish myths and sagas, a collection of short stories by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, and some Kate Chopin. I also found a paperback version of Susanna Clarke's Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell (another book I've been meaning to read for awhile) for a dollar, Dan Simmon's Hyperion (ridiculous sci-fi! woo!), Ross Campbell's Water Baby, Angela Carter's The Bloody Chamber, David Malouf's An Imaginary Life (which I'd actually never heard of, but which looks really cool), and a super nice new edition of Don Quixote with beautiful french flaps and sort of ribbed pages and an introduction by Harold Bloom! Bryan got a lot of nice stuff too, some Jack Vance, Karen Armstrong's A History of God (great book) and some really nice editions of some of Rudyard Kipling's work! He got other stuff too, I just can't remember it all. Anyways.
Also, in non-book acquiring news, Steve
recently posted some more info about the
N-Man stuff I did with him. So feel free to check that out as well!
