Ralph Klein falls silent
Ralph Klein has dementia, can no longer speak publically.
I actually have fond memories of Ralph Klein. He was mayor of Calgary when I lived there, and helped bring a struggling city out into the public eye and helped make it thrive. It was because of him Calgary got the '88 winter olympics, and later when he became Premier of Alberta, he set aside a special emergency fund, so that if Alberta ever fell upon hard times, they could tap the fund rather than raise taxes or cut services. (The current Conservative party in Alberta is currently draining the fund horribly quickly) I don't know what he was like in person, but he did some amazing things for Calgary and Alberta, and it is a shame to hear he's suffering like this.
