Here's the to-do list post I set out to write in my previous post. Short version: BEARS. DISSERTATION BEARS. Or, in the apt words of Tolkien, "A great doom awaits you, either to rise above the height of all your fathers [NB: I won't have the first PhD in my family, but I will be the first woman with a PhD in my family] since the days of Elendil, or to fall into darkness with all that is left of your kin." - Lord of the Rings, Appendix A.
Dissertation writing goals:
ALL OF IT
REVISED: Finish aristocratic networks chapter by July 31
REVISED: Finish conclusion by July 31/Aug 1
REVISED: Monks and lordship disputes chapter by July 25 DRAFT DONE!
REVISED: Introduction by July 25 40 MIN INTO AUG 2 BUT WHO CARES
Edits to Dol-Combourg chapter by July 31
Light edits to priories chapter by July 31
As time, edits as demanded by RBartz
Other academic work (yes, this still exists):
Submit conference reimbursement request
Finish Leeds paper by noonish, July 4
Create Leeds paper abstract, send by July 4
Submit book orders for fall semester
Officially schedule dissertation defense [IN PROGRESS]
Send overdue reply to AL
Post-Leeds, submit conference reimbursement paperwork
Non-academic stuff to do:
• Decide on international phone plan for Leeds or not
• Tidy room for ladlady P's realtors' photos and showings
• Communicate with landlady P's realtor as necessary [IN PROGRESS]
• Contact landlady P re: confirming leaving
• Try again to contact realtor
• Find apartment [POSTPONED TO AUGUST HI I'M GOING TO BE LIVING IN A LITERAL BOX]
• Deal with any further hiring paperwork issues
• Pick up corrected immigrations paperwork
• Once paid, buy plane tickets home in August
• Try to stay in touch with parental units
• Email Lauren
• Email Laurie
• Reply to Laurie
• Phone calls with Lauren and Laurie maybe
• Skype with Morgayne at some point
• Organize visit with JW before she moves to St Louis
• Deposit July rent cheques
• Oversee online bill payments
• Pick up dresses from dry cleaner
• Prepare shoes for return
• Return box of shoes #1 to Zappos
• Return box of shoes #2 to Zappos
• Print return label for box of shoes #3
• Return box of shoes #3 to Zappos
• Clean room, or rather, stuff clutter somewhere
• Do some emergency room sweeping and dusting
• Try to live on salad rather than takeout
• Try to eat three meals a day
• Keep self in clean clothes
• Try to find time to fight bathroom squalor at least once
• Go to bank branch and deposit money order
• Return rest of marked-lost library books
• Notify banks of travel
• Hang out with people as much as possible at Leeds
• Visit with JW before her move
• Keep posting to DW/LJ
• Sherlock rewatch in small installments
