Dave and I got our first COVID vaccination yesterday, took us nearly half the day because we drove to another town an hour away. Those were the first appointments we could register for online. There has been some discussion in Australia between patients and doctors that resonates with me as a patient in the U.S. with chronic illness. I've been having a particularly frustrating time in the past few years with many (though not all) of my doctors and HMOs. Several days of migraines, have reached the limit of days I can take meds for it without bringing on rebound headache (which is way worse and lasts longer). I am ready for this weather to change.

Today I am grateful that the super-intense migraine I had last night is over. I took something right away and iced my head so I also got some sleep.

While I was homeless, I never was in a homeless shelter--until last night's dream about being homeless with my adult daughter and grandchildren. We all went to the shelter together. Somehow it resembled a jail. No in and out privileges, I think ( Read more... )

I was surprised by the contrast between pain management for this procedure vs pain management for cardiac catheterizations I've had. The pain for this was minimal and I was constantly asked if I was ok or needed more meds via my IV. They gave me versed to start, just a little, which relaxed my body and mellowed out my anxiety.
