But I should announce the birth of my fourth grandson, Shibli Imad Alsaad! He's named after a prominent Muslim scholar.

He was born December 18th. He is the full brother of Zaman and half-brother of Jonathan and Valente. I haven't been able to see him in person but I've seen videos and I hear him on the phone quite often.

The boys are back in school, grateful to have clothes to wear, enjoying their toys, and my daughter said they'd be sending out thank you letters. Apparently one box got recycled before they thought to write down the address so if you don't receive a note, please know that they extend their gratitude ( Read more... )

Their mom called today to let me know that their shoe sizes are 1 and 4. Oh and their dad is saying they didn't bring anything with them so he isn't withholding their stuff. Right. I guess we hallucinated that trunk full of stuff we delivered with them last October.

I hope what my grandsons will most remember about this time is that people who've never met them are sending packages of clothing and toys and donating money to help replace what their dad is withholding from them. This weekend my grandsons needed to be removed from their father's care. He is refusing to send their clothes and toys along or any of their records such as immunization, ss cards, birth certificates, and so on. Their mom got copies of the birth certificates but now needs to replace their clothes. Even their shoes--they came away in cowboy boots ( Read more... )

I don't really celebrate Thanksgiving but I get invited to gatherings of family and I go because I love them. Personally it just makes me think of all the injustices our ancestors perpetrated on the people who shared food with them and welcomed their trade.
