once a bruin, always a bruin

Today was one of the most fun days I've spent in SF since I've moved here. Kase and I headed down to the Warfs and watched some of the Fleet week festivities. I didnt even know we had fleet week in sf and i've lived here for over 10 years. we got to see the blue angels and i was, as usual, amazed and at the same time a little sick in my stomach from watching those guys perform. if you've never seen them...i highly recommend you go to the pier tomorrow or come join me up here next year. there were also sailors EVERYWHERE in the city. it made us think of the episode of satc where it's fleet week in nyc. supposidly they have that same type of appreciation dinner thing here...kasey and i are not attending but i think that it's pretty funny. surprisingly, i saw no one protesting the war today. i'm slightly dissappointed in san franciscans but at the same time glad i didnt have to deal with it.

i also realized just how old i am. i remember the first time i went to sf back when i was about ten...so early 90's...and sourdough bread bowls were twice as large and costed about $3.75. Oh the times have changed. I expressed this concern of mine to Kase while we were getting food today and realized that I have become one of those "old" people who talk about how things were so much cheaper many years ago.

after our fleet week fun we came back to the apartment and i became very lazy. i'm too old to party like i used to in l.a. so we watched the ucla/cal game. i very much miss the rose bowl, the student section, and even the press box where you cant cheer for the bruins. i'm very proud of the bruins, and maurice drew in particular, for pulling through to come from behind and beat the bears. i love how bruin football gets better as soon as i graduate. i completely predicted this my first year. through the transitive property...the niners will be bad as long as i live in sf. maybe i should move to green bay.

i was looking at v's profile and she had a quote on there from our grad speaker: "your first degree is like you're first love, you'll always remember ucla." once a bruin, always a bruin. i'm glad i went to a school like ucla with so much school spirit, with rivalries, and people as passionate about athletics and competition as i am (if not more). kasey was talking about how ucsd is completely the opposite. life without football/basketball would be so sad to me. i suppose i would have layed out at the beach more.

i'm going back to the city of angels for the big game. we're probably not gonna win...but i'm still pretty excited to tailgate with my girls and scream my voice off for the bruins.

oh and preet, you know i heart cal...but i love ucla. =)
