So I have three days until payday.
I've got plenty of starches. Rice, potatoes, bread, dried pasta, spaetzel, tortillas (it's weird how many of those are both singular and plural). But I'm woefully lacking protein.
I do have a smattering of cheese, I believe there's an unopened container of goat cheese and one of american cheese slices. There's always peanut butter (which will be my lunches until Thursday). There are two eggs left. The only other thing I have is some frozen turkey breasts, which were intended for wild rice soup. But I only have one carton of stock, it needs two. I think there is a can of chicken breast in the pantry too. Oh and I do have one link of chorizo! But alas, no grated cheese for burritos. But I guess that's where the eggs will be going.
Basically there will be enough food to keep me until Thursday. But that begs the question, what to buy on Thursday's pantry stocking to avoid this situation because I can't actually buy groceries the first half of the month.
I'm thinking a loaf of turkey ham. Some canned tuna. More canned chicken. Things that can be frozen or stuck in the pantry for protein. I'm out of frozen pizza too. It's damn hard to find to find pre-frozen chicken breast which AREN'T breaded any more. Eggs of course. Shredded cheese.
I usually pick up some hamburger for mexican. I'm out of refried beans(!). I'm out of honey (I remember seeing orange blossom honey somewhere here, either Whole Foods or World Market). I'm out of taco spices. I think I'm out of Thai Kitchen spring onion soup (think ramen, but actually good).
Suggestions? Did I mention cheap is better than spendy?
And dude, I SO need some BBQ sauce. I saw some funny chicken ranch themed sauces at Whole Foods. ::grin:: I'm such a sucker for chicken packaging.
Thank god the cat has food.
