Man, mom's pancreas is hosed. Shit, she won't be able to leave for at least three or four days. They aren't letting her eat for that long, giving her pancreas time to heal. I spent about four hours there this afternoon. Her color is better, but she's just exhausted. Her potassium levels are really low. She must have had 15 "bumps" of potassium since she got to the hospital yesterday. She's getting pain meds, but she's still in quite a bit of pain. Dad just called, they've put her on oxygen and she's running a fever.
The doctors are talking with her rheumatologist. They're thinking the interaction with her water pills and one of her arthritis meds burned out her pancreas.
Dad's coming here by soon to help me clean up the kitchen. I've already shoveled mom's driveway and walk. I've been resting on the couch for the past hour - petting the cat, watching Judge Judy and sitting under the electric blanket.
To say I'm numb is an understatement. You should have seen my reaction when I saw that she's on the oncology ward. ::shudder:: Just because there was a free bed, but still. Shocker. I think we'll be going back to the hospital after we have some food.
