I keep receiving comments about how I look like I've lost weight, and indeed my waist size continues to shrink. (I'm going to need a new belt pretty soon.) However, I haven't lost any actual weight. In fact, I've gained a little. I also haven't gotten any taller. What gives?

Many moons ago, I decided on a whim to become a vegetarian. I gave my friends a multitude of explanations for this abrupt decision in order to lessen their complaints about how difficult it is to go out to eat with a vegetarian. (Frankly, that's bullshit. So I'm thinkin' my meds are working. I don't SPAZ THE FUCK OUT over everything lately, despite the fact that I've actually done a pretty bad job of keeping up with class work. Doesn't matter though, as it's all turned out fine in the end. I just feel a ton better lately.

Even if it's just a placebo effect, I'm satisfied.

Hokay, well I have hypothyroidism. This means that I will be on levothyroxine for the rest of my life.

But I'm okay with that.

There's been quite a bit of build-up for the TSH test results that I'll be getting back tomorrow. I guess I don't exactly know what I'm hoping for. On the one hand, I don't really want to have a thyroid problem as those can be pretty serious, but on the other hand I have all of the symptoms of hypothyroidism anyway, so I guess it'd be nice to be ( Read more... )

Cool. I'm experiencing all of my least favorite symptoms of illness at once. Well, all except vomiting. There's one thing to be thankful for, I suppose.

Firstly, the L key broke off of my (laptop!) keyboard. The bastards at Acer said I can't request replacement keys, I have to ship the laptop to them in order to have the whole keyboard replaced. When I think about the actual science of it, it seems like it should be impossible to lose weight. With the amount of calories a normal person consumes during a day, it'd be really difficult to exercise enough to work all of that off. There must be something I'm missing... some fundamental principle of nutrition that's passing just over my head.
