I WENT TO THE HIGEDAN CONCERT LAST TUESDAY!!!!! AHHH! WHEN I SAY I WAS FILLED WITH LIFE AND LIGHT! It was amazing T__T I went with my friend who joined the fanclub just so we could ballot together, lmao. So lucky we hit for Tokyo! Or else we'd have to travel elsewhere and it would entail so many more steps. Whew. I'll probably write a con report when I have time, but for now some translations inspired by the concert! First is their latest single before Subtitle came out, called Choral A. Super lovely melody! Watch the music video too if you have the chance because it HURTS THE HEART. Sigh. Enjoy!
CHORAL A
KANJI

ENGLISH
"When you complain about being bored You're draining someone's heart"
A good friend says, holding a cold glass And tired today too
"Should we just give up now?" "But it feels like we can still keep going"
One day, these child-like summers will settle down and disappear
The rain passing over the city Along with the cottonwool that seemed to lie in wait for it
Are blown away with the wind Now, they arrive in bits and pieces
As if whispering to me, "There's a reason we met here today"
"Answer me," it says
I can't see with my eyes the random times that regret rears its head, but
It's in the way tears and smiles get mixed up in one another, speaking up so they can't be told apart
Remember the reason someday And count just one
I'll wait here no matter how long
In the twilight of my heart, there's you with your black hair tied back
An image I locked up in an old camera and never showed anyone
But the next time it's opened up, I'll say it out loud Pointing a finger at your small shoes
"Should we give up now?" "But it feels like we can still keep going"
It feels like the same night over and over again But I can hear your voice still
I have to go pick you up I have to do my best to not forget about this
The rains passing over the city Along with the cottonwool that seemed to lie in wait for it
Are blown away with the wind Now, they arrive in bits and pieces
As if whispering to me,
"There's a reason we met here today"
"Answer me," it says
Notes:
1. Not sure what the black hair and small shoes are in reference to, but maybe it has to do with the movie this song is the theme for? Or maybe it's just a reference to youth/the past.
2. "Kotaeteokure" is a combination of two verbs, kotaeru (answer) and okuru (send), so it might be asking the listener to send a reply, or send something as a reply...? In any case, I just translated it as "answer me."
