Why must they produce these albums?

Gavin's really big into the Teletoons TV channel these days, and they're constantly playing commercials for the latest Mini-pops CD. For those of you unfamiliar with Mini-pops, it's a hideous franchise where pre-teen kids sing popular songs.

I find this particular commercial gross enough because it features tarted-up* ten-year-olds singing wildly inappropriate songs like "California Girls" (the idea of pre-teen girls singing about how they'll "melt your Popsicle" is revolting, kthnx) and "Tik-Tok". But just to add the rotten cherry to the horror cake, Lady Gaga's "Telephone" is listed as one of the songs that the kids sing on the album. They don't show an excerpt of it, but it's listed.

And I can't help it. The part of me that can't resist a trainwreck wants to hear it. I want to hear just how badly a bunch of semi-talented** kids would mangle Lady Gaga's music.

I can't find a torrent of the album, and the song isn't up on youtube. I don't want to hear it badly enough to actually buy the album. (Even though Gavin would LOVE that, since they perform his favorite song, "Waving Flag". But seriously, one listen to the album would likely shatter my eardrums, much less listening to it on repeat like Gavin would want.)

So, should any other moms around here happen to have that CD (IIRC it's Mini-Pops 7 or 9)... let me know. (And yes, I know I shouldn't really be tagging this post "music", but I don't have a "ear-destroying facsimile of music that should be used for auditory warfare" tag.)

* I don't want to see ten-year-olds wearing makeup.
** At best. Calling them "semi-talented" is, from what I've seen on the commercial, being kind.

argh, music
