OK SPEAKING OF NOT GETTING TO SEE PEOPLE YOU WANTED TO SEE:
last night at Albert Hammond Jr, which was amazing, but i'll get to that later, i kept looking through the crowd for a famous person (i never see celebrities in LA, not counting industry events. the biggest star i think i've seen was Kirsten Dunst at the Rilo show 2 years ago, and Tom Hanks when i was 7 and didn't know who he was), and apparently my eyes deceive me because Macaulay Culkin was there and MORE IMPORTANTLY DREW BARRYMORE WAS THERE (you might not care, but for me it's e2908dsgifohoqwo owaehoihag!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111111) and somehow i missed her, although she is only 5'3 or something and probably got lost in the pit of high school kids holding up camera phones and screaming along. i forgot this was an all-ages show, so it shouldn't have been so surprising.
for some reason the drummer looked exactly like Fabrizio Moretti but maybe a little bit less hot, but he was wearing the same clothes that Fab wears. and the rhythm guitarist had a Julian haircut, and the best part was the skinny little lead guitarist with the blond 'fro who couldn't have been more than 21 years old and was so happy to be there. i think Albert is my new favorite Stroke. Nick stopped being hot a long time ago anyway. but the show was awesome anyway, despite being jostled by the lesbian couple next to me on the stairs multiple times. and he inspired me to hold my guitar way high up and play like a total spaz. they were so much better than i thought they would be even though the set only lasted 45 minutes and they played every song on Yours To Keep except Cartoon Music for Superhoes. that was disappointing. and there were these really annoying blond LA girls behind me in line for security talking about their study abroad in Florence and how they got soooo drunk with these 3 Spanish policemen in Madrid and how much they like, omg lovvveeed Europe. but didn't we all?
overall i'm not sure yet if the evening was worth the $39 i spent ($24 for ticket, $15 for parking) but it was one fucking good show.
