Happy Advent!
Being partway through the first week of advent, I am experiencing an interesting parallel. I have been actively waiting for a job in the last month. Active in that I have been applying, going to interviews, and working part time at a job that doesn't really excite me. Today I am in a state of eager, expectant waiting. Why? Because I got a call from the blood center. They are checking my references and the Puget Sound Blood Center didn't have a Laura Kuperstein. So I gave them my maiden name. And now I am waiting expectantly for that second phone call saying my references checked out, and I'm hired.
The parallel to Advent: We are waiting for Christmas, we are also waiting for the Lord's second coming. As we wait for Christmas, we are not doing nothing, we are active. We are planning, preparing... we are also buying gifts and making cookies, etc- but I'm thinking more on the spiritual side of things. And as we await His second coming, we should not be snoozing in the porch swing watching life go by, but prepare, help others prepare, and be alert.
The closer we get to Christmas, the more expectant, and excited we get. Only 21 more days to go!
