SO HOW ABOUT THAT MERLIN FINALE, HUH? There are thoughts and stuff and gifs and an epic Arthur/Gwen spam under the cut, so prepare yeselves.
FIRST, ARTHUR/GWENLESS THOUGHTS. For the most part.
This was actually a really great episode, which I was not expecting, really. I love how they just dived into the action, because we don't need a set up, we knew what was going to go down. It was so much more epic than last series because everything felt very chaotic and doomed. I mean, the Dragon is still full of crazy lulz, but at least he makes for a good finale.
And I am actually happy the Dragon is still dancing to "Stayin' Alive", because he is fucking hilarious and I knew he would make it anyway. Although Merls was really dumb to let him go, I guess with him being the last of his kind Merls wouldn't have gotten to practice his Dragon Lord powers again.
Speaking of the Dragon Lord! I didn't catch his weird ass name but I'm going to call him Dragon Daddy from here on in. I LOVED HIM. AND MERLS WAS SO FUCKING HAPPY. HE WAS LIKE A FUCKING PUPPY, OKAY. DID YOU SEE THAT SMILE? DID YOU SEE IT? AND I KNEW, I KNEW THE MINUTE HE WAS SMILING THAT DRAGON DADDY WAS GOING TO DIE. And he did. And it was like someone shooting Santa on Christmas Eve in front of twenty million kids. Almost. It was fucking sad, okay? I want him back. This is supernatural television, okay? HE MUST COME BACK. Anyway.
A couple of beefs, though. I really wish we could have gotten an Arthur/Gwen scene before he left to fight. Because he thought he was going to die. They could have said such things! And shared such kisses! And had such amazingly hot sex! But really. I was expecting that scene and instead we got extended bromancing between Merls and Art and really, it's enough. They've had that conversation before.
Also, can Arthur pleeeeeeeeeease find out about Merlin's magic next series? Because he really can't take anymore brain damage in the form of getting conveniently knocked out whenever Merls has to perform some tricks. And then waking up straight after. It's old, it's tired, and so is Merls getting credit for nothing and Arthur (unbelievably, if you ask me) thinking he's saved the day every time. But alas. I did enjoy the fact that Arthur didn't give up even when Uther was ready to throw in the scarf. Once and future King, y'all.
AND NOW THE IMPORTANT STUFF.
