I always thought 'Something Wicked' was an odd title, because, with the exception of 'Dead in the Water' the title was always mentioned in the episode somewhere, so it kinda stuck in my mind as weird. But yeah, I agree that Afterlife is a much better tittle. Long titles are just cluky and remind me of Charmed.
Well, that's an interesting point. *considers that* I liked that most of S1 episodes had such a direct relationship to the subject of the episode. Usually, referencing the MOTW itself. Other than being a familiar phrase, even Dead in the Water, if interpreted literally, does this. Asylum, Home, Route 666, location. Hell House does both, in a way. I never really liked meta before, but now, I just eat it up, and can get the same feeling from reading good meta than from reading a good fic. Tis weird.
I should note that the 'location' episodes are, for the most part, the ones that deal with a spirit or a haunting, rather than a creature or a monster that could be referred to.
Dead Man's Blood does refer in vague ways to vampires themselves, so that does make sense. Provenance at a stretch could be considered location.
I think the season finale episodes were not simple enough in and of themselves to have similar titles. But well done with making them sound like they fit in.
