Our newly adopted cat from
Cat Welfare Society joined our family today!
I was anxiously waiting for his arrival with his lovely caregiver who took care of him for the past two months. When they arrived at about 7pm, Max and I were greeted with a rather nervous cat who ran around our house trying to find a safe place to hide. We'd prepared a scratch post, some toys and a makeshift cardboard "bed" but he didn't touch any of those. Instead, after running around to no avail (I should have let him use one of our spare rooms), he went under the dining table and hop on a chair which was pushed under the table. I guess he felt safe enough to stay there till now (11pm).
Did some research and understood from the caregiver that it is very normal for cats to behave like this when they are rehomed. I guess it'll take Puffin a few more days or weeks to finally get used to us? I hope he adapts very soon...
Just now, I was in the shower and Max heard Puffin meowed a few times. I felt like a mom who missed hearing her baby's first "mama"!!! Max just laughed at me when I was rather miffed to have missed Puffin's "first" meow. -_-
I've placed an order for a nice, comfortable pet carrier/bed known as
Sleepypod. It's rather steep in price but since I lack a cat carrier AND a bed, this would be purrrfect. Furthermore, it can be safely fastened with seat belts in the car, and can even be safe for plane travel! (Not that I will bring Puffin overseas anytime soon). Okay, so I had to sell off my hardly used Kate Spade bag to buy this... but I am happy. :D
Anyways... here's Puffin looking quite nervous under our table. I didn't use flash when taking this photo as I didn't want to startle him, so the photo's rather fuzzy. Say hello to Puffin!
