I'm starting to wonder if Hogwarts has a dress code or not, because that would not fly at ANY school I've attended- and I've attended many, many kinds of schools.
At the very least they should be wearing robes. I have no doubt that a well-designed robe, possibly based on the Quidditch robes and maybe with some magical enhancement, would be suitable for doing one's morning run in.
Indeed she notes that when she puts on a robe in the next scene. But the author can't even keep track of who's in the room at any given time, let alone be consistent between scenes.
No kidding. I couldn't help but snicker at the Harry/Katie scene when Ginny and Draco come 'round the corner(how in the hell can they come around a corner into the Headmaster's office when the books and movies show us that the revolving staircase opens straight into a small hallway that leads to the office's door), meanwhile Severus and Hermione are completely forgotten and seem to just...stand there while the whole scene is going on.
Bleh. The school let Katie - someone trying to get a job as a DAMNED TEACHER - go around dressed like a two-dollar whore. Why should they care what the Sues do? x(
And yes, I hate how ALL the girls dress like that. Okay, Neil excuses Jamie, Caitlin, and Emily by saying that just hate clothes SOOOOO freaking much they wear as little as possible. Why, then, does Kim dress like them before she takes up nudism? >(
And ~*Severus~* pretty much said "oh u". Here, let's take a look:
“That outfit makes Jamie look like a conservative dresser. I know Draco approved.” “Severus didn’t. After we told her she had the job, he commented on her attire. Said he hoped she would dress more appropriately for classes come next Autumn.” “What did Katie say?” “She said that how she dresses has nothing to do with her teaching ability. That she intends to dress as she pleases and if he doesn’t approve perhaps he should withdraw the offer.” “Wow! I bet Severus lost it.” “Actually, he didn’t. He backed down. Said it wasn’t a condition of employment, just a suggestion. Harry, I’m glad she is going to be teaching here. I always liked her, even if I didn’t show it when you two were dating. She’s feisty!”
I don't know why I skipped over that bit when I was sporking, because it's just so bad in so many ways. It's like he's vaguely heard of the concept of women's liberation but has trouble applying it to actual situations.
Reminds me of My Immortal: "Fine. Very well. You may go up to your rooms." Snape in this fic might as well not be Snape. I mean, not only does he act all sweetness and light to the trio but then he goes and shags Ginny. Or at least I'm presuming he shags her, because you'd be forgiven for thinking he'd suffered the same fate as the unnamed spy earlier on.
Bleh. I'd say Snap was far more in character than this Severus person. Hell, I'd be damned if this Severus person turned out to be "Sev" from My Immortal.
But at least Snap has Snape's sadistic streak intact, if only that...
Severus? You might as well put a big white beard and a pointy hat on him and have him voiced by Michael Gambon(though, for the record, I always imagined Dumbledore in the books with Richard Harris' voice, even after Gambon took over).
Reminds me of Jay Naylor's female characters, particularly in the one Better Days arc which pits the main character's mother, Sheila, against his teacher (the kid's in elementary school). Sheila is pretty much a hot mom who, at the beginning of the comic's run, was a total floozy. Every time she showed up, she was on her way off to "entertain" various male friends (and given that she was supporting two children by herself and seemed to have no other job, that led to some...interesting implications
( ... )
... Nothing to do with her teaching ability? Eesh. There are very good reasons why it would be somewhat contraindicated for a young female teacher to dress like this. I mean, even if in Neilworld all of the Gryffindors have no problem at all with girls wandering around naked, and its ENTIRELY NONSEXUAL, how are, say, the Slytherin boys, the DIcks of the world, going to react to her, and is it really going to aid her ability to keep order in the classroom?
It gets even more Unfortunate Implications when you realize the guys don't really dress that revealing. In fact, the males don't seem to be nearly as pressured to become nudists in this fic (except poor Ron) as females.

Okay, "Snape" and "backing down" don't belong on the same PAGE together, much less the same sentence! Unless it's fucking DUMBLEDORE!
