anniemal's gone to the Maryland Renaissance Festival with her OkCupid buddy. He apparently got some steeply-discounted tickets. They had planned to go Saturday, but then the weather sounded better for today, and then Saturday turned out better than forecast.
She spent much of yesterday cleaning out the van - vacuuming carpets, putting mats (trash-picked some really nice ones [
Aug 31]) over the unused seat mounts, and picking a tent/camping carpet to put in the back. Since the weather is iffy today, she wants a shelter to retreat into if it rains at Revel Grove - I guess if it looks like something they can wait out and then return to the Faire. There's not many sheltered places on the grounds. Some of the pubs have covered seating, but most of the grounds are wooded or open. Most shops have some cover, but how long can you hang out in some vendor's booth?
I took the rear wheel off the bike (and tire off the wheel) to replace the spoke that broke
Monday (when I got the snakebite puncture). I also replaced the rack, because it had gotten somewhat chewed up when the derailleur I tried to use from my old Huffy went mangle [
jul 11]. One of the welds was broken, and I had lashed it together with wire and it was holding he weight of my panniers, but the rack has been getting noisy the last couple of weeks. Things on bikes that make new noises tend to fail before too long. (Or mask noises from other things that are about to fail.)
I mowed the strip of lawn next to the street that I missed last week. It was very tall, and very wet. The tall outweighed the wet. The rest of the yard could already use mowing again, since all this rain has encouraged growth, but for the rest the wet outweighs the height.
