Nearly a quarter of adults and 14% of children are obese, the latest Health Survey for England shows.
By 2050 the figures are predicted to increase to more than 50% of adults and a quarter of children.
What is that going to do to their health-care costs? Life expectancy? NHS is already having trouble physically accommodating the current obese clientele - wheelchairs, stretchers, beds, bariatric ambulances (£90K!)
