I was wondering about Ben and Jerry's. I am not interested in Krispie-Kreme. I wonder if Whole Foods is giving anything out; probably not.

I was also wondering if I could get hot chocolate at Starbucks rather than a coffee given that I don't really drink coffee either.

PS. Yay for easy voting! We are going to try at 10.

Go to Ben and Jerry's website store locator and type in your city. Looks like you two are mostly out of luck unless you want to make a little trip - a bunch in the city and a bunch out past Vienna, and not a whole lot in the middle. :P

Yeah, I'm not going out to Chantilly at 5pm. :P Bummer. I will probably pass up the coffee too as I hear it's only regular coffee they are giving out free.

Also,

Shane's Rib Shack (free "Vote America Meal" (3 chicken tenders, fries, 20 oz. drink)): show "I Voted" sticker
Chick-fil-a (free Chicken Sandwich): show "I Voted" sticker
Todd Conner's pub (Baltimore) (beer on the house): must have/show proof that you voted

I misremember if you're vegetarian; if you are, then I apologize for the recs. If not, perhaps this will help -- or you can pass it on, of course.

You've identified my biggest problem with electronic voting machines here... the ScanTron method has some of the same problems (you're still trusting the tabulator), but at least offers the possibility of hand-counting the ScanTron sheets.

I may not have expressed it as clearly as possible, but we're definitely in agreement here. The idea of trusting the outcome of an election to proprietary software that can't be reliably audited is appalling to me. The optical scan machines are almost as easy to use, and the presence of the paper ballots allows for that audit.
