I spent the New Year at home on my own, which was a bit boring of me. But that will teach me not to arrange something beforehand. However, it's not been that bad. I've been quite exhausted after Christmas, and Christmas went really well. I've found I've excessed to excess and I'm really looking forwards to life getting back to normal. I like

Christmas went pretty well. Christmas Eve saw the usual Vigil Celebration, where we ate the traditional Polish fish dishes finished off with Polish cakes. Yesterday, at the behest of my grandfather, we went to see the Polish film 1920: Battle for Warsaw, which is an account of the event that has been termed, in Polish culture, as the Miracle on the Vistula River (Cud nad Wisla).
It was either yesterday, or on Saturday, that my mother and I watched Grand Torino, a film starring and directed by Clint Eastwood. It was really good, on a par with Invictus, and played totally against type for Clint Eastwood

Yesterday, I went out with my parents and some of their friends to see The King's Speech. The film was really good. It's rare for me to see a much hyped film and for it to live up to or exceed it's hype. The actors were all uniformly wonderful and the plot was uplifting but not saccharine. Colin Firth was very believable as a stammerer and Rush

I watched 9 today, as it was on via the movie channels. I'd seen a write-up via an Amazon recommendation based on things I'd bought, and it seemed interesting and fit my mood. It's about a group of rag-dolls created by an inventor scientist. Each rag-doll has a number on it, which works as its name. The plot follows 9 as it wakes up into a post
