Today was B's funeral. It was held at the same church that my grandmother and grandfather were buried at, Holy Jo's as my dad calls it, from the time he was an altar boy there (St Joseph's of Highgate to everyone else), using the same undertakers that we used for my grandparents funeral as well ( Read more... )

Yesterday, I went to visit B at home. She isn't looking good and it looks like she's losing the fight against cancer. The pancreatic cancer she had spread and it seems to be attacking other parts of her. She looks like pictures of people after coming out of concentration camps or famine. It's not nice.

Life is heading towards drama at the moment. The boyfriend has been waiting mayhaps a bit too long to talk to his ex-girlfriend and things have gotten tense. She discovered this blog and I'm having one of those moments of having the real world and this blog collide in ways I never thought would happen. I don't particularly mind it happening. Christmas this year was pretty good, considering that I'm weaker than a newborn kitten. On the 24th I dragged my arse out of the house and did last minute Christmas shopping followed by cleaning the house and joining in the Vigil meal. My eldest cousin finally married her partner. She's been living with him for at least 6 years, which was when he first proposed, and they have a five year old son with another on the way. The wedding was low key, consisting of just a civic ceremony at the town hall, which for all its legalistic simplicity, was actually really nice ( Read more... )

Christmas has been a bit hectic because yesterday, I cooked a full Christmas meal for 10 people. To make matters more complicated, the turkey I would be cooking wasn't going to arrive until some of the guests came. It was very, very stressful.
