The last week has been exceptionally busy.
Monday I walked my regular walk through Hampstead Heath. I felt quite residually stiff and sore but otherwise I made most of it without too much fuss.
Tuesday night was Trans London, which had a talk about a new sexual health clinic being opened expressly for trans people in Soho by the Terrence Higgins trust. I also met up with one of the other young people there, and we had our usual post-meeting burger. This time, we also invited a transman I met while I was there, who was friendly and started chatting to me. I can't stand being at the meeting and doing nothing, and so I end up putting out the chairs and helping tidy them away, and this seems to make people talk to me.
Wednesday I started off with counselling and a walk back through Hampstead Heath and later on joined some geeky people for fun and games in a pub in the City. The pub was gothy themed and everyone in the city, even the non-gothy people are dressed darkly, so I felt very conspicuous dressed in light clothes. I shall have to wear darker stuff next time I go. I also got horrendously lost in the City, which I always seem to do, and arrived late. Still, I got a game of Munchkin with a very quiet person who was very soothing.
Thursday my dad asked me to set up a domain for the Islington Sea Cadets, the charity he helps run and do work for. He mainly wanted email, but a website would also be nice, so I installed Drupal. I'm going to build them up a simple website and try and train them up to use it. It means I need to relearn a few things, so hopefully it'll be good for everyone.
Friday I went down to the Sea Cadets with my dad, in order to hack one of the public computers, which had been locked down by a disgruntled volunteer who left. I also set up some of the email accounts on the system and updated it. I then went home, caught something quick to eat before leaving to my grandfather's to install a new printer that they'd bought. After that, I came home and I still arrived home earlier than my dad, who'd wanted me to stay with him at the Sea Cadets to do "one more thing". I also made some couscous for the next day, which was quite funny, because my mother and I had fights about what went into it and how much salt to add. I won by placing the salt very high where she couldn't get it :)
Saturday I went to a DVD evening with various old friends from University. My old housemates for three years. It was good to see them, and we watched all the Rambo films, which is good because I hadn't seen any of them. It was a bit scary and fraught because I didn't particularly want to talk about my gender problems, and there were people who I'd never met before and I didn't know what they knew, and that meant dodging awkward questions like "what have you been doing?". On the other hand, it was really good to meet them again, and the occasion was that Dan is getting engaged to Emma. It was amazing watching him being domesticated, and he seems really happy. Emma is also very nice.
On Saturday, I also came down with the first vestiges of a cold. So today I'm sitting in the house wrapped up warm with the electric heater on, sweating my way back to health. I also watched Summer Wars today, which was a really good anime film about an AI taking over virtual space with all the real world consequences it has. It has lovely warm humour in it to due to the family arc of the story. It's also my first rental through the free trial of LoveFilm I have for this month, since they gave me a wonderful offer.
