It was like they had always been friends since the every beginning. It was strange. He only had met her earlier in the year. She considered him close friend, almost like family. He on the other hand, well, he wouldn’t lie that he felt something for her, but she was a good friend. And something told him that it was best to keep it that way.
Yosuke looked to his right and Botan was sitting there. It wasn’t strange for her to be around him, it’s just that she was… in his room, sitting on his bed. He happened to be sitting in his desk chair, avoiding her gaze. Nervous? No. This just felt strange.
The male was so immersed in his thoughts that he didn’t hear her get off the bed and walk towards him.
“Yosuke?” She leaned over to put herself in his view, blue hair falling over her shoulders.
“W-what is it?”
“Are you feeling okay, mate?”
“Fine-” Although the blush on his face said otherwise.
She hummed lightly. She knew he was lying. The look she was giving him told Yosuke that. He stood up from his chair and Botan backed away.
“Look, I just don’t want to do anything I’d regret,” Yosuke said, looking in the girl’s direction, but not at her.
“Like what?”
Botan wasn’t stupid, but sometimes, Yosuke thought, she could be a little dense. A girl in his room was just sitting on his bed? How did none of this add up to her? But then again, Yosuke was a gentlemen and a boy with his mind in the right place. There was no way he could just ‘take’ her like that. Botan was his friend before anything else. At least… that’s what he told himself.
He figured actions would speak louder than words here, so he leaned forward and kissed her lips softly. Needless to say she was shocked, but didn’t push him away. He pulled back, flushed and disgusted with himself. He couldn’t control himself just this one time?
“Look, maybe you should just leave.”
Yosuke expected a silent nod or even some noise of discontent, but none of those came. Botan had only placed the tips of her fingers on her lips and looked down. Great, now he was really disgusted with himself.
“Yosuke,” she whispered out. She was in utter shock. Had he felt this way and kept it under wraps until now?
He didn’t answer her.
“Is this…”
“Don’t say it…”
Because he was afraid to admit it and he didn’t want to. Yeah, he had feelings for her. So much for keeping everything in check.
“I didn’t know.”
“Didn’t expect you to, really.”
Silence.
“Yosuke?”
“Hm?”
“I’m sorry.”
“For…?”
He looked down at him, but only caught a flash of blue hair. Her soft lips pressed against his.
What?
His hands went to her shoulders as he pushed her back gently.
“Botan… are you even sure about this?”
“Well I am just a girl in your room who was just sitting on your bed.”
Botan was a good friend. And something told him that it was best to keep it that way. But who listens the voice in the back of their head anyway?
