I finally succumbed to reading some articles from tv experts on the fate of Life.  Clearly they know a hell of a lot more than I do about the manoeuvering of time slots and re-shuffling of shows and ratings and what it all means.  I steadfastly refused to go anywhere near these news reports before because I didn't want my bubble burst.

I think I know why Life season 2 feels "off".

The writer's strike meant that there were only 11 episodes for season one, right? So was Trap Door originally intended to be season one's cliff-hanger finale I wonder. It would've been perfect.
