The day the young and "sexy" took over music was a loss for us all. We no longer see or hear wonderful singers like Jimmy Durante, Ethal Merman, or Mama Cass anymore. They don't fit the acceptable "young and lovely" mold - and we are stuck with singers who all look and sound essentially the same.
Like when Susan Boyle "shocked" the world because she could sing, even though she was un-young and *dowdy* - she became the exception instead of the rule. Sad loss for us all because we are missing out on the best and most original singers and personalities because they don't fit that ridiculous industry mold. We get canned singers who everyone thinks are so great, but they are only great because they don't have the real competition who never get the chance.
