The Eyes had it, and so Have I!

My first cataract surgery went well, apparently. My father coming to pick me up after, that did NOT go well. I was in a bed laying there waiting for 3 1/2 hours after I was supposed to be released because no one could contact him. He had dropped me off at 6:30 am this morning and he was told to come back at 9:30 am. He didn't show up. He didn't answer the phone when the nurses called trying to contact him for more than an hour.

I finally had to call my apartment complex office at 10:40 am and ask them to send someone into our apartment to see if my father was there, was ok, and to wake him if he was found to be asleep in his bed. He was indeed in bed and he had completely forgotten that he was supposed to come get me, or where I was, or why I was there. At 10:50 am the nurse called his cell and he answered, saying that he was on the way.

After another hour he was still a no-show. The nurses wanted to call the police to look around for his car. They were concerned he was in trouble or being mentally erratic. I called dad's cellphone again and he answered. When I talked to him he said he was at the McDonalds near our apartment (10 min away from where I was). He said he had already been near the surgery place but couldn't find it, so, he drove back towards our apartment.

After repeated calls giving directions, he finally found the place and I had him take me home. I was not happy. The nursing staff was not happy. They told me that he really should not be my driver for the 2nd surgery on Monday after this fiasco. I need to find someone else to take me for my 6:30 am appointment. I have no idea who can do that. 😕

When I got home I saw that he had left 8 messages on MY cellphone (which I did not have with me at the surgery). He had been calling it, not calling back the phone number of the place, even after many calls by the nurses and myself, and having the caller ID too. I am more than a little upset with the whole thing. Dad can't be trusted. Bleh! He's too old, apparently. Too old and too scatterbrained to handle something as simple as picking me up. *smdh*

Life is funny... except when it is not.

Bleh

family, father, life is funny
