Passing Time, and Other Things

I went to sleep, and it turned into just a 3 hour nap instead. I woke up and performed that fast-scuttle walk to the bathroom. I was quite relieved once it was over and done.

I decided to make coffee, but first I had to take an antacid pill. I drank a full glass of water and heated up the water for the coffee. I saw the water as it came out of the faucet in the sink; saw it and heard it, and felt it too. Then I did another fast-scuttle walk to the bathroom. Once again, I was quite relieved once it was over and done.

The coffee made, I thought I should go ahead and do a load of laundry. I got the detergent from the bathroom and took the laundry upstairs to the shared washing machine in my apartment building. I put it all in, set it to wash, and heard the whoosh of water. I heard it, and I felt it. I did a fast-scuttle walk down the stairs and into my apartment, swishing my way to the bathroom. Again, I was quite relieved once I got in there and was done.

I sat down here in my computer chair pondering my age, and also pondering just how old my bladder must be. I almost have to believe that it is older than the rest of me. Is that possible? Probably not.

I think it is because so many things in life now relate to water and pipes that carry water along. Pipes in the walls of the bathroom, the kitchen, the laundry room, and inside of my own body too. I find it surprising that my using the word pondering didn't make me do the fast-scuttle, because it has the word "pond" in it.

Now, as I wait for the laundry to finish, I will go take my Duolingo Spanish classes. There will be a lot of lessons that contain the word "Agua" in it. I already know it, because it is a universal truth that no matter how much you want to not think about something, what you are trying desperately not to think of, you are always being reminded of.

I already know I will pass the class with the "agua" questions in it. I will do those classes fast, and pass the agua, without fail.

[Note: The humor in this post WILL be lost in translation. My subtle humor is subjective, and distinctly American.] :P
