So I received one of the best Christmas gifts ever.
I have been reading "The Five Love Languages of God" (which I really recommend btw) and discovered that out of the five (Acts of Service, Physical Touch, Words of Affirmation, Gift Giving, and Quality Time) that I am really a quality time person. I really appreciate spending time with people and I absolutely love it when I run into people that I haven't seen in forever.
That happened today and I think it was my Christmas gift from God (in addition to that whole Jesus thing).
I walked into church today, my home parish (which, btw, a long story but I don't really have any friends that go there any more) and my brother was like, look who's here.
I looked and two rows behind me was my friend Franco. I was so amazed! I haven't seen him since high school! I had the biggest grin on my face and he genuinely smiled back a large grin. Of all people, he was the least likely I had ever expected to see at Blessed Trinity because his family moved to Florida.
It's a long story why he was there, but I don't know exactly why, but it was such a joy to see him. Thanks, God, you done good (as my dad says).
Then, something funny.
During the Gospel, the priest actually read the entire geneology of Jesus. I was like, woah, I've never heard that actually read before - I admit, I've always skipped over it too. Needless to say I actually found it interesting and a great way to find new approaches to Christmas. Anyway, he was about half way through reading it when I thought to my self, "Jesus Christ, there are so many names!" When it dawned on me...yes, it was all about Jesus Christ. I thought that might put a smile on your face. If you have a bad habit of using the Lord's name in vain, maybe that's His way of reminding you He's always there!
Merry Christmas!
