Mid Autumn Lantern Festival

So tired of placement and it's only been the end of 2nd week. Still got 5 more weeks to go! Placement has been going well so far and I'm starting to bond with the kids more. They really liked my first 2 activities I did with them and they kept asking me if we're doing it again. I would LOVE to do it everyday because that means less work for me, but I cannot repeat the same activity for more than one day as my faculty will FAIL me if I do so. lol. I'm so sorry kids.

However, I absolutey DISLIKE all the kindergartens that I help out and work with during the morning and afternoon since I actually can't be with my school-agers until they're off school after 3:30pm. Which means I actually only get to spend 2 hours a day with them to do whatever I have to do with them. So in the mornings, I go help out in the other rooms in the daycare at wherever they need me. Let me just say these kindergartens are the most ANNOYING and BOSSY kids I've ever worked with. Sometimes they're just so bossy and rude that I want to slap them in the face. LOL. I'm not kidding. It's not only them being rude to me but being rude to their FRIENDS too. There's this one girl who's like best friends with another girl but she bosses her best friend around like she's a slave or something. But the best friend doesn't really take it in and she sometimes objects to what her best friend is telling her to do. Oh gosh. I don't even understand HOW they're best friends. I can already predict in the future that they'll most likely argue alot with each other when they're older and might not even be friends anymore after gr.4 or something. Seriously. And they're so obsessed with crowns that they ask me to make and draw them crowns everyday. Then they tell me how I'm such a GREAT artist. lol. At times I just find it extremely amazing how they can suck up to me when they need me to do something and yet they're just plain bratty and evil when they don't need me. Sometimes I wonder if their parents even teach them manners. -___-"

And I feel so sorry for the other student from my program who's working with school-age children with me. She's doing senior school-age and I'm doing junior school-age. Her cooperating ECE teacher who grades her is so ano about everything and on point to like the things you should be doing and what you shouldn't be doing. The funny thing is as the girl is telling me about it during our break time, I actually see it happening when we're outsidie in the school yard together. LOL. It sucks to be her. I'm so glad I didn't pick to work with senior school-age because when I called in to ask for direction of how to get to the daycare before starting placement, the person asked me what age group I'm working with and I said school-age. Then she asked me if I want to do junior or senior and I picked junior. If I had picked senior then that would've been ME suffering with that ECE teacher. lol. Lucky me. My cooperating ECE teacher is so nice and she doesn't seem like a hard marker. She actually hasn't even been at the daycare in the last 2 days I was there, haha.

Anyway, enough about boring placement stuff. I was looking at lantern pictures at the Ontario Place just this summer for the Chinese mid autumn lantern festival online and they're just SO PRETTY! It looks so much better than the time when I went 4 years ago. I'm kind of disappointed that I forgot to go this year. Next year, I'm definitely going there again!!

It has gotten so much better! They even added creations of different places around the world and even buildings of different cultures too. I love the last picture of the flowers. BEAUTIFUL! I didn't personally take these pictures. I found them on a website in which I forgot to save the site address so I can't give proper credit to its rightful owner. I would have LOVE to see this with my very own eyes though. I can't believe I totally forgot about this event and missed out on it.

It's actually mid autumn festival next Wednesday. I think the number one thing I like most about mid autumn festival is actually not mooncakes (I have never been much of a mooncake fan) but LANTERNS! As a child, I have always dreamed of playing with lanterns during mid autumn festival like seen on those Chinese dramas on TV. Unfortunately, living in Canada does not allow me to experience such joyful and exciting events and it's a pity since I'm actually a very cultural loving person. I actually do love and enjoy all Chinese cultural holidays and events such as Chinese New Year and Chinese Valentine's Day (七夕節) One year, I will try to experience Chinese New Year and Mid Autumn Festival OUTSIDE of Canada like in Hong Kong or something. There is just something I really like about Chinese holidays and events and would really like to experience it the traditional way. =)
