The 13th and 14th were field days for the boys. They had a good time and did well. I am still of the mind that participation ribbons defeat the purpose of competition. Award first, second, third. That's it. yes all the kids should be recognized but the ones who excel should be awarded accordingly. *argh* pet peeve.
Saturday the 15th The boys had soccer matches in opposite directions, but with a decent amount of time in between. We made it from Greeneville to Sevierville in time to still catch the first quarter. I am glad De was able to take him while we were in Greeneville. He did so well. Second goal of the season! And it was a great goal.
This day was also another push in the direction of homeschooling. It's a bit of a story but I will try to make it shorter. I belong to a Catholic home-school swap board on Yahoo! Someone was selling the curriculum I wanted to use, she was asking $175. This is a fair price, I think. It included everything including lesson plans, books, tests booklets, etc. I wasn't sure, plus I figured it would be gone fairly quickly. Then she posted it again a few days later reduced to $125. I made her an offer of $75 and she took it! We were working out the details, sending mailing information and low and behold...she lives in Greeneville- where James' soccer game was in just 2 days! I let her know this and we made plans to meet at the soccer field.
To me this is just another sign that I am doing the right thing.
