Rough day

The kids have been driving me nuts today. I am just thankful they all seem to be settled right now; of course I haven't checked- I'm avoiding it because I don't want to be anymore frustrated or angry. Elle went down the hall at 9:50 and Thomas' light was still on- it was supposed to be out at 9. He has a timer and it was set, he is responsible ( Read more... )

Stick with it..its hard, but for your own sake you need to enforce what you say, one way or another....some parents dust the seat of the pants, some withdraw privileges, but the tinies ( and not so tinies) need to know who is in charge...they need their boundaries even if they kick against them .
I remember my daughter at 10 or 11 whingeing on and on about what she was and was not allowed to do. "Helen's mum lets her....blah blah blah"
OK ...go and live with Helen's mum then....
" NO THANK YOU VERY MUCH"
Remembering it still makes me smile

*L* I like that "dust the seat of the pants" That's such a nice way to put it. Sometimes it's hard when it goes on for a few days and I am the only one here to deal with it.

They have never given me the "so and so's mom let's them do...." more than once because My response was, "well I'm not so and so's mom.

I know after a recent meeting with Elle and her friends and their parents her friends left realizing how luckiy and priviledged they were and the parents left thinking maybe they were a little to easy on them because the one girl was being punished with the same things Elle lived with as a normal everyday life. Their daughter went home looking very wide eyed and scared.
