Jin pulls down the door handle but the door won’t open. He shakes the handle up and down frantically but the door still won’t budge. Great. Just great. He groans in annoyance and kicks the door.
“What are you doing?”
Jin spins around at the question and comes face to face with Kazuya. He hasn’t stopped calling him Kazuya in his head even if they’ve given each other the cold shoulder for the last few months. Kazuya will most likely always be Kazuya or Kazu for him.
“The door is locked” Jin answers and kicks the door again to mark his point.
“You have to be kidding me!?” Kazuya pushes Jin aside and tries the door handle himself. Jin can’t help but feel a bit annoyed that Kazuya doubted him. “What did you do to it?”
“I didn’t do anything!” Jin doesn’t even try to hide his annoyance. “Why would I want to be locked into a room with you?” That’s a lie actually. Jin really doesn’t mind being locked in with Kazuya but of course he’d never admit to that.
“Yeah why would you?” Kazuya sighs, sounding a bit hurt as he turns around and walks over to the couch where he slumps down. Jin doesn’t say anything to that but he feels a pang of guilt. He knows he’s been too hard on Kazuya. Maybe he should take this opportunity to apologize. Maybe he should step up and be a man. A real man would admit to when he’s been wrong and make up for it right?

“I’m sorry”
“What?” Kazuya looks up as he stops fiddling with one of the rings on his left hand. “I thought it wasn’t your fault that we’re locked in.”
“I’m not apologizing for that” Jin walks closer, dragging his feet over the floor. “I’m apologizing for being a-“
“A jerk?” Kazuya fills in for Jin who nods. Jerk is probably one of the best words to describe what he’s been to Kazuya the last couple of months.
“I really am sorry” Jin stops in front of Kazuya and falls down on his knees. “I should’ve apologized earlier but I’ve barely seen you around and when I have then we’ve been busy with work”
“You could’ve called” Kazuya grumbles but Jin think he sees a small smile creeping up on the other’s face. He hasn’t seen Kazuya smile, at least not off camera at all the last couple of months either.
“I know” Jin nods reaching out and taking Kazuya’s hands in his.
“Or e-mailed me” Kazuya adds but since he’s not pulling his hands away Jin thinks that the other might be on his way to accept the apology.
“I know” Jin nods again. “But you know how much of a proud idiot I am. I don’t like being wrong”
“But you’re apologizing now. Why?”
“Because…” Jin sighs. “I don’t know, probably because I’ve missed you. I like you so much that I can’t stand not being friendly with you anymore”
Kazuya doesn’t say anything and neither does Jin but their hands stays in a hold. Jin has missed holding Kazuya’s slightly smaller hands in his.

“You’re holding my hands” Kazuya points out after a moment of silence as if he first now has realized this. Jin can’t help but let out a soft chuckle as he squeezes the other’s hands.
“Yes I am”
Kazuya’s face breaks out in a full smile and he shifts his gaze so that their eyes meet.
“You’ve been a real jerk” he says looking straight into Jin’s eyes. Jin has no idea how Kazuya manages to both glare and smile at the same time. It makes Jin feel a bit uneasy because he’s not sure if Kazuya is mad at him or not.
“Yes” he gulps but doesn’t break their eye contact.
“But I’m gonna accept your apology” Kazuya continues. “If you treat me to lunch that is, because I’ve missed you too. I have no idea why because you’re the most stupid person I know but somehow I can’t help but like you.”
Jin acts on impulse when he flies off the floor and tackles Kazuya into a hug. He’s overwhelmed with happiness. Kazuya yelps in surprise but then starts laughing as he hugs Jin back.
“I’ll treat you to as many lunches you want” Jin smiles and then without thinking he leans in and plants a quick kiss on Kazuya’s lips. He freezes when he realizes what he’s just done and Kazuya looks just as shocked. Jin thinks he probably should explain why he did it, only he doesn’t really know the answer to it himself. Will this ruin the friendship he miraculously just had managed to piece back together? He really hopes not because he wouldn’t stand losing Kazuya again.

“Idiot” Kazuya says breaking the silence. Jin fears the worst but then he notices how Kazuya is smiling at him.
“They don’t call me Bakanishi for nothing.” Jin smiles lopsidedly in relief. Kazuya’s not mad at him for his stupid whim. Kazuya chuckles and then to Jin’s surprise he plants a kiss just as brief and soft as the one Jin had planted just a moment ago.
“What did you do that for?” Jin can’t stop himself from asking and he thinks it’s a very good question to ask.
“The same reason you did it” Kazuya smiles and then pushes Jin of from his lap so that he can get his phone from his bag. The answer doesn’t make Jin any wiser but it makes his heart beat faster and it feels like his stomach is filled up with something fluffy. He doesn’t ask Kazuya to elaborate though in case it’ll make Kazuya annoyed with him so he just smiles back. He’ll probably figure it out over time anyway. Given time he can figure out almost anything and even though he doesn’t quite get it, Kazuya’s answer made him happy.

The end.
