Halloween 2010

Yay, Halloween 2010 was a success, and it involved large quantities of food and friends sillying it up at my house. You can see the full photo album for the event at my Halloween photo page, but here are a selection of pictures, which you can click to see the big versions.

Notes on the costumes: Steve came wearing some sort of Punisher-esque stuff and had a crossbow thingie, but he wasn't wearing it long and I don't have a picture of anything but him holding the crossbow. Meggie, Eric, and Stephanie didn't have costumes, though you can see their spirited presence on the main photo album. I had two video game characters, three religious-themed costumes, two literary references, three exaggerated cultural representations, and two scary traditional monsters. WHEE!

Notes on the food: For appetizers I made apples with dip, tortilla chips with salsa, veggies with ranch dip, peanuts, crackers and cheese, and molasses-ginger animal cookies (homemade!). For dinner I made homemade baked macaroni, cheesy mashed potatoes (I cheated; instant), couscous (also quick-cooking instant), corn, tater tots, and home-spiced hot cider. And for dessert I made hot Chocolate de Mexicanos (Day of the Dead drink), cream cheese pumpkin roll, autumn leaf cookies, pumpkin pie, and caramel pumpkin blondies. I didn't include the picture here of my homemade muffins, because the only photo I have is just them in their stand being covered by dishtowels, but I had banana, cranberry, and pumpkin muffins as well.

Very fun, and everyone sipped cold sodas or juice and put up with the crowdedness to chill and chat. It was pretty awesome. Most people left by about 10 as it was a Sunday night, but Derek, Sarah, and Michael stayed later, and Michael kept me company until like 5 AM chatting. (Unexpected surprise! I haven't seen Michael since last year's Halloween party!) I was a little tired and put off doing some of the dishes until the next day, but it was all worth it. :) I made everyone take food when they left so I wouldn't have too many leftovers. People seem to be enjoying my muffins.
