Yesterday was my appointment at the VGH gynecology department, and to my disappointment, I did not get the promised surgery. It turns out that my appointment was just a consultation (which is not what I was told), and the gynecologist told me that my surgery won't be until October. Of course this is very inconvenient, as I have all my midterms in October around the same time, so I told him that I can not have it until October 17th.

Friday October 10th: MICB 300 midterm (worth 25% of our grade, the final is worth 40%)
Tuesday October 14th: BIOC 302 midterm (worth 50% of our grade, the final is worth 50%)
Wednesday October 15th: BIOL 421 midterm
Tursday October 16th: MICB 201 midterm (worth 40% of our grade, the final is worth 60%)

(Thanks Harper for making the election on October 14th! So convenient!)

He told me that I would probably need a few days to recover, so I asked him if he could schedule the surgery for a Friday (preferably October 17th), so that I could recover over the weekend and not miss any classes. However, they like to inconvenience people as much as possible, and he told me that they only schedule surgeries Monday-Thursday. Argh! I really don't know what to expect, and have no idea if I will be sick and totally loopy the next day or what. I will be given a general anesthesia, meaning I will be completely under. Thank goodness, because I do not want to be awake when they are cutting into my crotch!

So during yesterday's consultation, I had my blood taken so they could do some tests (I think the gynecologist wanted to check my white blood cell, red blood cell, and hemoglobin levels), and the gynecologist wants to have a chest X-ray done because of my cough, as well as consult with an anaesthesiologist before my surgery as I may have pseudocholinesterase deficiency (my grandmother had it--they found out in a less than pleasant way--and I think my dad has it, and my siblings and I may have it). This gland is such a nuisance!

Since I'm not going to have surgery until after October 17th, I see no reason to remain celibate until then. I've been celibate for nearly three weeks now because of my cyst and I did not want it to become reinfected before my surgery (they can't operate if it's infected). I'm sure that if I do have sex it will come back, but I'll just get it drained if it does, and I will refrain from having sex for a couple of weeks prior to the surgery, just to be on the safe side.

cyst, health
