The Friday Five for October 24

1. What was a skill you were proud to learn as a kid?

I was pretty good at climbing poles and doing the monkey bars in 1 - 3rd grade.

I'd used to climb these at recess.

I was terrible at the backward flips below on the horizontal bars though.

It was a requirement in second or third grade PE but I never mastered it.

Once I got to the missionary (American) school in fourth grade, the "cherry drop" was pretty popular there.

We did that a lot until one of my friends broke both her wrists doing it off a really tall bar. I think it was banned after that.

2. What's something you used to be good at, but can't do any more?
I can't think of anything that I've lost the ability of. I'm sure there is something, but it is not something I miss.
Well... this morning I couldn't thread a damn needle so I had to ask my daughter to do it for me.

3. What's something you haven't done in a long time, but you could pick it right back up again with some practice?
I wouldn't have much trouble playing my clarinet - although I'd have to make my reed really thin to be able to get a note out, probably LOL

4. What can you teach others to do?
Speak English or Japanese, I suppose. I could help older people with computer or smartphone problems too. Although, I'm not as knowledgeable as my kids.

5. What would you like to learn next?
I don't particularly have anything on the agenda. I'm not an age when I need to learn new things to make my life fuller or get a better job. I'd rather use what I already know so I can leave something behind - like write a book. I really need to get on that. Do a bit every day :)
