Today, in the office: One of the assistant's was to make a call to Japan (she's in her mid 20's). So, she asked the registrar's other assistant (in her mid 30's) to find out what time it was there. Then, a few minutes later, I hear "Is Tokyo in Japan?". This went on for at least 4 or 5 minutes while they tried to decide where Tokyo even was and if it was close enough to Japan to figure out the time. One of them was, "It's in Western Europe". Wow. At least I was able to entertain myself. I finished the seniors degree audits & letters today. Will start the printing, copying, stapling, refiling, etc. and then move on to the juniors. Oh how I love this job.
Calculus midterm=85%. That's fine with me. We've started integrals, which I find harder to do than just plain derivatives. Band practice is tonight (which is basically my twice a week evening "job"). Although it pays minimally, I'm trying to suck up to my band director in hopes of getting a scholarship for next year.
I also put in an application for an animal control certification class scholarship. The class is the last week in August in Moreno Valley, CA (just slightly East of LA) and is a week long. Scholarship would give me 500$, which covers tuition. I'd just have to get there. I should know by the end of this month. I'm washing clothes today because it's finally a decent day for them to hang outside on the line.
